In Spring of 2021, a few local leaders began meeting regularly to discuss their mutual hopes for a Westerville that took decisive, actionable steps towards fully including and celebrating all LGBTQIA+ people. From a shared passion for intersectional justice for the diverse LGBTQIA+ community, the Westerville Queer Collective was born.

Westerville Queer Collective's first request of the city was to fly the Pride flag. After a hard fought battle in the summer of 2021 including testifying at City Council meetings and staging protests, the city finally agreed to fly the Pride flag.

After a year of building infrastructure, we received our 501(c)3 status in early 2022 followed soon after with the first Westerville Queer Collective Pride that summer. Since these small beginnings WQC has expanded to have monthly community programming, fundraiser drag shows, and is still proudly hosting the annual Pride festival. â€‹
